ended<\/h4>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\">The service was commissioned by the <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"36\">Department of Comparative Biomedicine and Food Science (BCA) of the University of Padua<\/b>, with the aim of investigating the growth dynamics of the striped venus clam (<i data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"202\">Chamelea gallina<\/i>) along the Adriatic coast.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">The primary focus of the consultancy was to determine whether the environmental variations recorded over the last decade have influenced the growth rates of these bivalves. Particular attention was paid to comparing the two main fishing areas: the <b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"248\">Veneto<\/b> and the <b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"263\">Marche<\/b> regions. This activity addressed the need for rigorous scientific tools for the sustainable management of fishery resources and for understanding the impact of climate change\u2014such as rising water temperatures\u2014on the productivity of natural beds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Bluefarm&#8217;s role<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">Bluefarm provided its expertise in bioenergetics and satellite data analysis to develop a customized modeling framework:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"8\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"8,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Development of the bioenergetic model (SfG):<\/b> We implemented a <i data-path-to-node=\"8,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"62\">Scope for Growth<\/i> (SfG) model capable of simulating the individual energy balance of the clam, translating environmental variables (food availability and temperature) into somatic tissue and shell growth.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"8,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Copernicus environmental data analysis:<\/b> We extracted and processed decadal time series (2010-2023) from the <i data-path-to-node=\"8,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"108\">Copernicus Marine Service<\/i> portal, analyzing critical parameters such as Sea Surface Temperature (SST), chlorophyll-a concentration, and turbidity, identifying specific thermal and trophic trends for each area.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"8,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Validation and Calibration:<\/b> The model was calibrated using experimental growth data provided by the Client, derived from marking and recapture activities. This allowed us to verify the accuracy of the simulations against real growth observed in the field.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8,3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"8,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Statistical Analysis and Growth Indicators:<\/b> Using clustering techniques (K-means), we grouped years based on similar environmental conditions and defined a growth index (LT24) correlated with historical landing data.
